Why Vote Green

We’re working hard to get results

The Green Party is the Official Opposition on the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames Council.

We work constructively to hold the Liberal Democrat administration to account.

They have a near-monopoly on power. We need balance to keep them in check.

You don’t have to back the Lib Dems to keep Reform or the Conservatives out. Labour cannot win here either.

Use all three of your votes for Green candidates

Change the balance of power for the better

Since 2018, Greens have held seats in various wards across the borough. We are not a “single-issue” party. We care about where we live in every sense of the word, and we start from the ground up.

Greens can win here

Myth: You must vote Lib Dem to keep Tories and Reform out.

Fact: Thanks to Brexit, the right can’t win again in Richmond.

Myth: A vote for a minority party like the Greens is a wasted vote.

Fact: Our five councillors already provide strong opposition.

Myth: Greens care more about the environment than about people.

Fact: This is a false choice. We care equally for both people and planet.

Myth: Greens can’t afford to stand candidates in your local area.

Fact: We’re running in every ward throughout the borough.

We’ve achieved so much, even in opposition

Alongside many hours of casework, in the last eight years, our five Green councillors have committed the Council to:

provide more help to protect vulnerable tenants from eviction.

meet recycling targets and improve local waste collection.

recruit more community support officers and tackle anti-social behaviour.

agree to achieve the strongest air pollution targets required by the World Health Organisation.

fund more community energy projects and retrofit advice for households looking to increase efficiency.

hold a debate on affordable housing that led to the Council pledging to become a Registered Provider and build its own social housing.

We’re winning locally, regionally and nationally in the polls

With over 200,000 members and 900+ councillors, the Green Party has grown significantly since recent elections.

Our base has more than tripled in just the last year, and some polls now place us first in London and second across the UK.

For the first time ever, we’re standing candidates for all 54 seats in all 18 wards across the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames!

This means that now is the best time to vote Green.
